I've spent the day attempting to clean up my apartment and begin packing. I'm shocked by how much stuff I seem to think I'll need 'down under', especially since I schlepped around NZ last time carrying only my backpack. I've already filled a suitcase full of essentials and I'm trying to figure out if I need to pack my other black suitcase + use my backpack (from last time) as my carry on luggage, manage my laptop and fit in my purse. Hmm, this is rocket science!
I also discovered that it is virtually impossible to buy sweaters/warm clothes for NZ in June in the US. There is NOTHING out there. I went to Eddie Bauer, Macy's, The Gap and Ann Taylor Loft trying to find something to keep me warm. I could have kept shopping but I soon gave up. I'll have to find some lovely warm sweater (jumper, I guess) when I get to NZ. There aren't even long sleeved cotton tees. Grr!

Four Days and Counting
As I write this post, I am officially 4 days from heading to New Zealand for a month-long adventure. This is my second trip to NZ and it has taken me five years to find my way back. Last time I went, I traveled alone and explored the North and South Islands on a bus, in hostels and with just my trusty backpack. This time around, my dear friend Raven has moved there and we are going to tramp (that would be hike) around together. I can hardly wait! We plan to start up near Auckland, exploring the Coromandel and the Bay of Islands before heading south towards Masterton, where she lives. We then will make our way south towards Dunedin and who knows what adventures await us!
